BTCCSquare news:

Tasmanian authorities are sounding the alarm on a surge in crypto ATM scams, with 15 victims losing a combined $2.5 million. Nearly $900,000 of the total was deposited through crypto ATMs. The scams often masquerade as investment opportunities, job offers, or government appointments.

Detective Paul Turner revealed victims were manipulated, intimidated, or pressured into funding fictitious crypto ventures. Romance scams also featured prominently. While Tasmania grapples with this issue, nations like Singapore and New Zealand have banned crypto ATMs outright.

The Tasmania Police Department issued a formal warning on July 11th, urging citizens to exercise extreme caution with unsolicited crypto investment proposals. The sophisticated schemes employ psychological tactics to override victims' skepticism.
